HISTORY

1926 Pontiac 6.
The first Pontiac car was introduced in 1926 after GM acquired the Oakland Motor Car Co. of Pontiac, Mich., in 1909.

1937 Pontiac.
Pontiac was meant to be a low-priced companion to GM’s “Oakland” line, but Pontiacs proved more popular. By 1929, half a million Pontiacs were sold.

Eliminating the Pontiac brand could have an impact on GM's Cami Automotive Inc. joint-venture assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ont., where the Pontiac Torrent crossover utility vehicle has been assembled along with the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain.

2006 Pontiac Silver Dollar.
Spectators look at the 'Silver Dollar Pontiac' in Phoenix, Arizona in 2006. The 1964 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible was once owned by Hank Williams Jr. and was the property of the Smokey Mountain Car Museum in Tennessee until it was sold for $214,500 to an undisclosed buyer at the RM Vintage Motor Cars in Arizona auction. Nudie Cohn, 'Rodeo Tailor to the Stars' who died in 1984, tailored the car complete with a silver dollar interior, hand guns and rifles mounted to the doors and fenders and a set of Texas longhorns on the hood.
